First Team

Helston 1 v Truro 1

Truro 1 travelled to newly promoted Helston for their 2nd League match of the current campaign.

Mark Taylor played his first team match for Truro 1 this season against the experienced Steve Riley. It took two close games before Mark realised the key to defeating his opponent was to play the ball with pace. As his confidence increased Marks clever shots improved for the Truro player to win 3-1.

Pete Madsen at 3 for Truro played Helston’s Jerry Thomas. Jerry was always likely to struggle and Pete controlled the game, ensuring that it was played to Pete’s strengths and the result was a comfortable 3-0 win for the Truro player.

Elliott Moore for Truro played Alan Goldsworthy whose style of play is not percentage squash but certainly not to be underestimated. Elliott won the match for Truro 3-0 but not without a few scares along the way, narrowly winning the first game 10-8.

Nigel Paul for Helston was the unfortunate victim this week against Truro’s Luke Vaggers. Credit to Nigel for battling hard but the outcome was never in doubt, merely an attempt by the Helston player to pick up as many points as possible – Luke won 3-0, dropping only 2 points in the whole match.

The final result was an emphatic 15 – 1 win for Truro
